An introduction to using journals

Finding a specific journal article



To find a specific article from a reference such as the one above, you need to note down the journal title.  In this case the Journal of Business Research.  Go to Library Search and type this journal name into the 'books, journals and more' search box.  If we have access to the journal online it will appear as a blue link.  Click on the online access button and click GO to locate the article using the volume number- 66; the issue number- 8; and the start page- 1013.  This help video takes you through this process:



Finding journal articles on a topic- Business Source Complete
You may also want to find articles by searching on a particular topic, such as the effectiveness of mobile advertising.  Business Source Complete is a great starting point to find e-journal articles on Business and Management topics.  This help video shows you how to search on this topic in Business Source Complete.


Finding journal articles on a topic- other resources
There are also other resources you can use to find journal articles, other than Business Source Complete. 
Emerald- great for management, marketing and HRM topics.  Type Emerald into Library Search to access.
Library Search 'articles and more'- click on the articles and more tab of Library Search to do a quick search on more general topics. Or select Business from the drop-down menu to focus the search.  See video guide here.
Google Scholar- Top tip: click on settings, then library links, search University of Westminster and click to add.  Now when you search you can get access to our paid resources via the LinX button which appears next to your results.
